Domain-Only Asset

A domain that holds value, sometimes including existing search exposure, without a fully developed website built on it yet.

A domain-only asset is a domain that has some form of latent value ... a strong name, existing search exposure, backlink history, or brand-adjacency ... but has not yet been developed into a full website. It sits between a raw domain registration and a mature internet asset.

Evaluating a domain-only asset means separating the latent value (name, history, search signal) from the development work still required to capture it.

Example

A domain-only asset showing Google Search Console impressions for relevant queries, with no matching content published yet, is a common buy-side opportunity described in Buy Internet Assets.
